Day 1

This was our first full day in Vancouver and it was beautiful! We did a lot of walking and even more eating. Needless to say it was a great start to our trip.
This was breakfast at just a little corner shop. Home made coffee cake and a pretty yummy egg sandwich. A really good hazelnut latte too!

Here are some pictures by the convention center downtown.

Goyza King was our first lunch stop. Brandon eats these Goyza's a lot when he is over in Japan, so we decided to give them a try in Vancouver. I only got the first couple pictures because we had some people sitting close to us who probably thought I was crazy for taking pictures (so I stopped). This is a picture of squid and prawns with flaky deep fried fish scales on top. The second is a basic Japanese dumpling (Goyza).

The next picture was a mid afternoon snack. Beard Papa's are another thing Bran eats all the time in Japan. These are MASSIVE cream puffs. I guess you have to be a big fan of cream puffs (which I'm not). I squeezed about 3/4 of my cream out.

Just some funky little statues down town.

This was our first dinner stop, La Bodega. We started with some very yummy and authentic sangria. Next picture was Calamari in squid, garlic sauce, then some type of potato pie, and last was a classic paella.

This was our second dinner stop, Sanafir. We made this an all tapas night. We had intended on going to three different tapas bars, but only made it to two before we were terrible stuffed. These pictures are a bit out of order but oh well. We ate more then I have pictured here, but I just forgot to take pictures of it all. The first dish is a duck prosciutto with pickled beets, goat cheese, and fried leeks. *** side note - When they took us upstairs to our table they asked us if we wanted an exclusive dining bed. I thought to myself, I take my food seriously - I need two feet on the ground and two able hands. Needless to say we opted for a traditional table. *** Next was a boquerone crostini with white anchovy and a white bean lime tapenade. Last was the dessert trio. From left to right was a rice pudding, baked yogurt, and a RIDICULOUSLY good espresso mousse!

The first day was delicious, but the best was yet to come!
